Casting Director in Training

Welcome to The Casting Life...my ultimate goal is to become a casting director, and here I've created a forum, a record, a journal, upon which I'll walk myself (and any readers, should this blog pique their interest) through my progress in reaching my ultimate goal.

I've gotten off to a great start; I received my B.A. in Theatre and French from Wake Forest University in 2009 (wow that seems like a long time ago now), took a couple of jobs afterwards to occupy my time and earn an income so that I could move out on my own and fend for myself, and now I've been a booking agent at a global talent agency for over 6 months. We mainly book models, but our database is enormous, and we book specialized talent as well (musicians, actors, celebrity impersonators, acrobats, jugglers, burlesque dancers, you name it!)
At this point in my life and career, I am gaining some invaluable experience that I'm confident will take me further towards my ultimate career objective.

To put it boldly (pun intended): I want to watch auditions. Theatre auditions. All day, every day. I want to cast productions. I want to conduct callbacks where I bring in the strongest actors from the available pool and work them all with one another, to find that perfect blend , that cohesive cast of characters, all of whom are perfect for their roles individually, but also are perfect as an ensemble. Ahhh...euphoria.
